Review: 3rd European Congress for Ceramic Implant Dentistry – “Facts of Ceramic Implants Part III”

From September 25–27, 2025, the 3rd European Congress for Ceramic Implant Dentistry organized by the European Society for Ceramic Implantology (ESCI) took place in Horgen/Zurich, Switzerland. Under the motto “Facts of Ceramic Implants Part III,” the event provided a high-level platform for science, clinical practice, and professional exchange in the field of modern ceramic implantology.

More than 28 international speakers presented the latest research findings, clinical experiences, and material developments. The scientific program was structured into three main themes – material aspects, biological fundamentals, and clinical applications – effectively linking scientific evidence with clinical relevance.

Particular interest was drawn to presentations on zirconia stability, surface technologies, biological integration, and long-term performance. In his keynote lecture, Prof. Tomas Albrektsson honored 60 years of implantology while offering insights into the future of ceramic implant systems.

Hands-on workshops, live demonstrations, and interactive discussions fostered an engaging exchange between researchers and clinicians. Feedback was overwhelmingly positive, highlighting the unique combination of scientific depth, practical insight, and collegial atmosphere.

The concluding Swiss Gala Dinner “60 Years of Implantology” provided a festive setting and underscored the growing importance of ceramic implants as an integral part of contemporary implant dentistry. The congress sent a clear message: ceramic implants are no longer a niche topic but have become an established, evidence-based, and biocompatible cornerstone of modern dentistry.
